Mozilla Webmaker Mentor training

San James on Webmaker
As one of the greatest events I have participated in this year, the Mozilla webmaker train a trainer event was on point and so inspiring, it was a two day event meant to give everyone skills to teach other people about  building and making the web. The training was carried out in preparation for the MozfestEA which is on 11th – 13th of July 2014 and also to help guys participate actively in Mozilla’s annual campaign “The Maker Party” that promotes hands-on community and personal  driven events about the open web.
The webmkaer project is around three tools that is Thimble, X-ray goggles and popcorn that help people nature open learning and reach as many people as possible on the web.

X-Ray Goggles - See how the web works

X-Ray Goggles allows you to see the building blocks that make up websites on the internet. Activate the goggles to inspect the code behind any webpage, then remix elements with a single click, swapping in your own text, images and more.

Thimble - Webmaking made easy

Thimble makes it ridiculously simple to create and share your own web pages. Write and edit HTML and CSS right in your browser, then instantly preview your work. Host and share your finished projects with a single click. Perfect for beginners and experts alike.

Popcorn Maker- Supercharge web video

Popcorn Maker helps you easily remix web video, audio and images into cool mashups that you can embed on other websites. Drag and drop content from the web, then add your own comments and links —all within your browser. Popcorn Maker videos are dynamic, full of links and unique with every view. Go  here  to tryout the tools.

The training was concluded with the new mentors training students from Makerere College how to use the tools, the new mentors were also each awarded Webmaker Mentor Badges for their hard work and love for the web of which particularly active and engaged members will have a chance to earn Super Mentor Badges.

One of the highlights of the event was the interest and the energy the new mentors showed till the end of the 2- day training.

We are looking forward to the MozfestEA which is just a few weeks away.
